The lady identified as Rose Mbinya was attacked at her boyfriend's house in Tala on Monday afternoon and later locked from outside.

She told journalists from her hospital bed that the man stabbed her on the leg and hand after beating her to a pulp then leaving her for the dead.

Matungulu assistant county commissioner James Nyegenye confirmed the incident.

He said the attacker fled after committing the act but the police have begun pursuit.

"I got reports that a young woman was brutally attacked by her ex-husband who fled after stabbing her twice," said Nyegenye.

The lady's boyfriend and owner of the house the crime took place told the press that the woman's ex-husband came to the garage where he works and threw the keys to him asking him to go and pick the dead body at his house.

" I rushed home to find rose wriggling in pain as neighbours helplessly watched they had milled around my house. I opened and rushed her to the hospital for treatment," He said.
