Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has been blamed over the escalating cases of insecurity in Borabu Constituency, Nyamira County.
This comes after two people were on Wednesday evening attacked and robbed valuables worth Sh50,000 by criminals.
"It was at 8pm when I was returning home from a shop when three men confronted me and ordered me to surrender. I raised alarm to attract my neighbor who came and the three men tied us before we led them into our houses," said a victim Charles Ongeri.
Mr. Ongeri said in his house, the criminals who were wearing masks stole his television set, solar panel, hoofer and his two mobile phones worth Sh15,000.
He said at his neighbor's house, the criminals also stole household items and in total the criminals stole valuables valued at Sh50,000.
Enock Onwong'a another local said the thieves stormed the area because of Matiang'i's tour last week.
"The thieves returned into the area because Matiang'i last week was here and he threatened to fight criminals to the end. It is time he should not tour the region," said Onwong'a.
Area chief, Eldanus Nyabuto said probe is ongoing to arrest the criminals who robbed the villagers.
