On Wednesday night, England took to the pitch to take on unfancied Croatia in the second semi-final match with a place in the finals up for grabs.

The Croats would, in the end, emerge with the ticket to play in the final, after upsetting the English, beating them 2-1 in extra time to qualify for their first World Cup finals.

The team had a huge support from Kenyans, with many standing behind them.

There are two main reasons why many supported the small nation;

1. Their President

Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, the Croatian president is one reason why many Kenyan men, especially those on neutral levels supported the team.

The president's photos wearing a bikini and flaunting her body emerged online before the match, with many admiring the beautiful, youthful president.

2. Croatia stood with Kenya

After the terror attack that left 147 students of The Garissa University dead, Croatian students stood with Kenya by observing silence and lying on the ground to symbolise the slain students in Kenya.

This touched many Kenyans and they decided to support them against England.

3. THeir uniform

Their uniform has colours that resemble the Embassava buses operating in Nairobi. Many tweeted and updated their Facebook statuses calling them one of their own.
