Here are the most remarkable moments that are hard to forget:

1. Jamhuri Day

On December 12,  1963, Kenya gained independence from Britain. This was a historic day since Kenyan citizens got freedom from their colonial masters. Mzee Jomo Kenyatta became the first prime minister until 1964 when Kenya was declared a Republic headed by a president.

2. Seventh Wonder of the World

On November 17, 2006, a poll of experts from America’s ABC television, Good Morning America, named Maasai Mara Game Reserve as the Seventh Wonder of the World. They described the annual migration of over a million wildebeests from the Serengeti plains in Tanzania to the Mara Game Reserve as one of the most breathtaking sights on earth.

3. The New Constitution

The promulgation of the new constitution happened on August 27, 2010, which was lead by former president Mwai Kibaki. Kenyans had a referendum vote for the new constitution on August 4, 2010, where they voted in large numbers. Kibaki’s message to the country was, “Kenya will never be the same again: It will be governed by the rule of law.”

4. Presidential elections nullification

This was a historic ruling and the first in Africa where the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kenya nullified the re-election of Uhuru Kenyatta on September 1, 2017, citing election irregularities in results transmission. Opposition leader Raila Odinga said the ruling marked "a historic day for the people of Kenya and by extension for the people of the continent of Africa".
