After five years in waiting, flamboyant businessman Don Bosco Gichana will now face the jury in Arusha court.
Mr. Gichana, a close ally of ODM leader Raila Odinga, had been condemned in detention without trial over money laundering and fraud.
For years, a section of youths have been running #FreeDonBosco even attracting national leadership in Kenya.
In Arusha on Monday, Bosco was taken to court but his case was pushed to Thursday where he's expected to take a plea.
"We thank God for this milestone. It hasn't been that easy following the kind of mistreatment he'd been subjected to.
"He will now prove his innocence and will be a free man soon. There is no doubt about that," said blogger Kabz Nyar Kisii.
Mr. Odinga is said to have been making enquiries about Bosco's tribulations and his meeting with Tanzanian President John Magufuli may have made the authorities to prosecute the accused.
During the burial of Monica Joseph, a sister to President Magufuli, Raila had been under pressure to intervene on the matter when he toured Kisii.
Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati had made a formal request to Raila at Gusii stadium just few days before the former premier flew to Arusha.
Mr. Gichana, a businessman cum politician played a major role in Raila's 2007 campaigns and would be arrested in 2013.
