Before his mysterious death at his Maanzoni Ranch in Machakos County on 26 April 2013, the late former Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo was among the most powerful leaders from the Ukambani region.
The late Kilonzo's journey to the top was not easy.
It is said that he was forced to repeat class one because he lacked Sh15.
Kilonzo had the desire to complete his education as early as possible but poverty didn't favor him.
Born on 2 July 1948, the late Senator served Kenyans with diligence and commitment.
He was once the Minister for Education, Minister for Nairobi Metropolitan and Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
During his tenure in the Education sector, the late Kilonzo left tongues wagging when he advocated for what he termed as the decent dress code for school girls.
The move made him win the hearts of students from different corners of the nation though critics did not keep quiet over the same.
The late politician was of the view that the skirts students were wearing were too long hence made them appear awkward.
Before his demise, Kilonzo was among the leaders whose words couldn't be ignored in the political arena.
He was dedicated and committed towards better service delivery before his life came to a tragic end.
