Harambee Stars Captain Victor Wanyama has assured Kenyans of excellent performance hours to Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) kick off.
The Tottenham Hotspur midfield powerhouse has reminded opponents that it will not be easy as they think.
He promised Harambee Stars' opponents a bruising battle as Kenya seeks to make history after 15 years since its first appearance in the contest.
Wanyama asked rival teams not to underestimate the Kenyan side because the team could pull a shocker.
Harambee Stars will play their first match on Sunday 23rd, against the Desert Foxes of Algeria .
“We are viewed as underdogs, but football has changed, and teams have proved that before. We respect our opponents a lot, but it will not be easy for them at all. It’s a motivation for us to be in the finals for the first time, and we are looking to give a good account of ourselves. It’s an opportunity for us to learn more from the finals,”Wanyama said as quoted by Standard.
The warning comes hours after ODM leader Raila Odinga met Harambee Stars players at their hotel room in Cairo, Egypt.
He delivered greetings from President Uhuru Kenyatta, and assured them of his support.
