Jennings Orlando Odhiambo, the Recce Squad officer who was arrested over the murder of Monica Kimani has been released.
Orlando is said to be Joseph Irungu Jowie’s friend and they were together on the night of the callous murder.
Jowie has been behind bars as detectives link him to the murder.
Orlando was released after the chief Investigating Officer Maxwell Otieno dropped an application to detain him.
He was denied bail by the high court as the prosecution convinced the court he was a flight risk and dangerous suspect who can intimidate witnesses if released.
Jowie is said to have been the last person seen in the house of Monica Kimani at Lamuria Gardens on September 19 when she arrived from South Sudan before her body was recovered the following day.
The body had the throat slit and dumped in a bathtub.
When investigations started, Jowie was arrested as well as his lover journalist Jacque Maribe and their neighbor.
Maribe has since been released on bail.
A source at the DCI said Orlando has convinced investigators to be turned into a state witness in the murder case.
