In a post on his official Facebook page on Friday, Waititu revealed that he had issued appointment letters to the newly hired medics.

The recruitment is in line with President Uhuru Kenyatta's Big Four agenda which seeks to achieve universal health coverage across the country.

According to Waititu, his administration recruited 20 medical officers, ten anaesthetists and ten radiographers who will be distributed to level 4 and 5 hospitals in the county.

"The new staff who will be deployed in level 4 and 5 hospitals will help ease the workload and consequently improve service delivery in our health facilities, which currently receive over 10,000 patients daily," said Waititu.

"Human resource for health is a key pillar in achieving universal health coverage and Kiambu County is working hard to achieve this," added the county boss.

The outspoken governor further noted that he respects medics due to the role they play of saving patients' lives.

He urged the new staff to remain steadfast and focused on delivering services to the residents of Kiambu.
