The County Government of Kilifi is constructing a multi-million County Health Complex Centre.
The Kilifi County Health Complex will house a complete cancer management unit offering radio and chemo therapy services, thereby reducing cancer cases by three-fold through early detection and screening.
While inspecting the ongoing construction works on Monday, Governor Amason Kingi said the modern health facility will handle referrals from North of the Coast region serving areas of Malindi, Tana River and Lamu Counties.
This will decongest the Coast General and Referral Hospital in Mombasa County which has been straining to serve the whole of the Coast Region from Lamu County in the North to Kwale County in the South Coast.
The facility will be equipped with modern technology and machines like a Computer Tomography (CT) scan machine, a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Machine (MRI), an Ultra-Eye machine, a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan for cancer diagnostics, a mammography as well as a laboratory.
"We have also reviewed the facility to encompass an emergency and trauma centre fully serviced with a 24 hour ambulance service system and two operating theatres together with a 6-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) facility as well as a 6-bed High Dependency Unit (HDU) facility," he said.
