Uasin Gishu County Assembly has passed a motion to reconstitute and split its house committees.
According to the motion mover who is also the Majority Leader Josphat Lowoi, this will improve service delivery in the county through efficiency and better oversight.
“The split of the committees will necessitate effectiveness since some committees are too huge and parts of the committee have been forgotten,” said Lowoi while moving the motion, Wednesday.
Lowoi noted that committee members such as those of Youths, Sports, Gender, Social Services and Welfare only concentrate on Sports and Youths affairs leaving Gender, Social Services, and Welfare.
“That’s why we want to split it so that attention can also be given to gender, social services and welfare which have totally been forgotten thus needs special attention,” added the Jubilee party Karuna/Meibeki MCA.
Langas MCA Francis Muya seconded the motion saying it is on time and that some committees were too huge leading to poor service delivery.
Muya added that splitting the committee will enhance transparency and accountability on the same.
Deputy Speaker Hosea Lamai urged the relevant committees to urgently implement the resolution of the house for the smooth running of government.
