Embattled Neno Evangelism preacher, James Maina Ng'ang'a has been charged with conspiring to defraud a businessman Sh3.6 million.It is alleged that Nga'ng'a conspire to defraud businessman Wickson Mwathe Sh3.6 million by pretending that he was in a position to sell him a residential home in Karen.Appearing before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku on Tuesday, the preacher pleaded not guilty to the charge.
He was granted Sh500,000 cash bail.Earlier, the preacher suffered a blow when the High Court dismissed his petition seeking to block his arrest and prosecution over the alleged fraud.High Court Constitutional Review Division judge James Makau said the preacher's petition lacked merit.He ruled that Pastor Ng'ang'a failed to demonstrate how his rights are being violated by the investigation being carried out against him.The judge also ruled that it is the duty of the Inspector General of Police, the DPP and the DCI to carry out investigations and prosecution."The petitioner has failed to demonstrate how his rights are being violated and I hereby dismiss his petition for lacking merit," the Judge ruled.Ng'ang'a filed a petition seeking to block the DPP from prosecuting him over the alleged fraud involving Sh3.6 million in rent arrears.The Neno Evangelism preacher claimed that the matter is purely civil in nature and not criminal.He accused the DPP and the police of allegedly abusing their powers for planning his arrest and prosecution.#hivisasaoriginal
