Popular Kikuyu gospel musician Ben Githae has sought to explain the circumstances under which his sidekick exposed his extramarital affair.
Githae who is widely respected and revered by his sizeable Kikuyu fan base has said that the woman, Rose Wanjiru, had threatened to expose him on several occasions if he failed to do what she wanted.
"Rose had before going public about my relationship with her threatened me many times that she would expose me in the media that I have kids with her," Githae said during an interview on Radio Jambo on Tuesday.
The 'Tano Tena' campaign song singer, however, admitted that he has twins from the illicit affair while denying Rose's allegations that he doesn't pay for child support.
"It is not true that I do not support the kids. These are just lies meant to soil my name and reputation. It is also a lie that I had asked her to procure an abortion because I have respect for life," said Githae who has been married for the last 18 years.
Even though he said that he has been able to sort out things with his legitimate wife, Githae noted that the marital scandal affected his marriage badly.
Popular Kikuyu preacher JJ Gitahi was dragged into the affair after Rose claimed that Githae had neglected her and the twins following allegations that she was also having an affair with the pastor.
