Police officers in Nyangoso, Nyacheki in Kisii County are holding a primary school teacher who chased his wife and 3 kids from home.
Confirming the incident, area assistant chief, Edward Ogora said the suspect, Paul Okindo, a teacher at a local primary school chased the kids from home claiming that he is not their father.
"Okindo chased the children and his wife, Linnet Nyanchera from home claiming he doesn't recognize them. The woman and her kids went to the children's office from where they obtained a warrant of arrest for the man to be arrested," said the chief.
He noted that he led a team of 4 police officers to the man's house where he was found sleeping and they arrested him.
"I led 4 police officers from Nyangoso and we stormed the man's house where we found him sleeping. He was handcuffed and taken to Nyangoso police station where he is currently being held," said the administrator.
The chief assured that the suspect will be arraigned in court on Monday to be charged with child negligence.
He warned men against abdicating their responsibilities saying the law will not spare them.
"Men fond of neglecting their fatherly duties should know the law is on their back. Child negligence is an offence punishable by law," he said.
However, the teacher accused his wife of having affair with other men outside the wedlock.
"Nyanchera has been sleeping with other men outside the wedlock. I decided to send her away with the kids she has taught to misbehave to me telling me that I am not their father," Okindo defended himself.
