The teachers have now been banned from teaching in across the country after they were found guilty of various offences including sexual relations with students.

Confirming the ban through a notice to the public, the TSC Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia said that the teachers have been cut from the Education sector for the rest of their lives for not adhering to the code of conduct as far as teaching is concerned.

The teachers committed the crimes between a mid-last year to the end of the year. The number of teachers fired by the commission now rises to 151 following the new development since last year.

Other reasons behind the bans include negligence and insubordination.

Reasons are given for their de-registration range from the desertion of duty, having sexual relationships with students, insubordination, to negligence.

"It is notified for general information that pursuant to Sections 30 (4) and (5), 23 (2) of the Act: Where the name of a teacher is removed from the register," read part of the public notice as quoted by Daily Nation.

The teachers will now have to look for alternative employment since any institution that offers them a job is likely to fined Sh.100, 000 or management given a jail term not exceeding two years or to both.

The firing of the teachers comes at a time when various stakeholders in the education sector have been lamenting about increased cases of student-teacher relationships.
