Kenya’s tourism sector has received a major boost after a Dreamliner Charter Flight by TUI Fly from the Netherlands arrived on Wednesday morning with 120 tourists on board.
While receiving the visitors at the Moi International Airport, TourismCabinet Secretary Najib Balala said Mombasa will now be receiving 15charter flights per week, up from 9 weekly last year.
Balala said it has coasted the government at least Shh200 million to ensure tourists flights land in Mombasa, a move that earns the government up to Sh3.7 billion revenue which is a major boost to the country's tourism.
The charter flight will be flying to Mombasa twice a week, translating to about 360 visitors to the Kenyan coast weekly.
The arrival of the charter flight from The Netherlands comes barely two weeks after the launch of TUI Belgium charter flights to Mombasa last weekend.
Belgium's Tui and Poland's LOT landed with 315 and 250 visitors respectively.
