Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has recently been rumored to be eyeing a bigger post in local politics come 2022 general elections.
If the unconfirmed reports are anything to go by, then the legislator will have an uphill task selling his ideology in a region characterised by clan politics.
Even as Duale's political future lies in the balance, his career in politics might largely be determined by two individuals.
Governor Ali Korane and Farah Maalim are two individuals that the Majority Leader should keenly watch since the duo might send him into political oblivion.
If Duale finally decides to give it a try in the 2022 gubernatorial elections, then his biggest competitor shall be Governor Korane who will definitely be defending his seat for a second term.
Having said this, the possibility of Duale emerging second will have dealt a big blow to his career given the fact that Korane is already enjoying much support from the electorate.
On the other hand, if he makes up his mind to defend his legislative position, he will have to contend with the stiff competition from Farah Maalim who has in the past offered him sleepless nights for two consecutive terms.
In the 2017 elections, Duale won the race by a slight margin in a poll that saw several court petitions.
Examining the twin situations, it is evident that by all means, Duale will have to either battle with Maalim or Korane depending on the seat he will be eyeing in the next elections.
