Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has said that he will vote against President Uhuru Kenyatta’s proposed 8% VAT on fuel.
Owino says that the proposed VAT is meant to punish poor Kenyans economically.
Speaking at Parliament Buildings on Wednesday, the vocal MP said that Kenyans stand to suffer if Parliament approves the proposed VAT and budgetary cuts.
He said that already prices of fuel and other commodities have shot up and that things will be worse when the proposed 8% VAT comes into effect.
“I will stand with millions of Kenyans on Thursday when we vote on the proposed VAT,” he said.
The MP said that he has no apologies to make, adding that he swore to protect the interests of Kenyans.
