A section of residents in Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu County, have pleaded with the government to extend the deadline for registering Huduma Namba.
The exhausted group of people who were waiting at the Huduma Centre, Eldoret branch, expressed their worries about the May 17 deadline saying it is too soon and unfair.
“We have tight schedules, we report to work early and leave late, I really plead with the government to extend the deadline so as to enable every Kenyan to register," said John Mwangi, an exhausted local at the Huduma Namba queue.
The numbers of Kenyans queueing was just too high to be fully served by the end of the day raising questions as to whether the deadline for registration should be extended or not.
“It is clear that with this kind of speed, all Kenyans cannot be registered by the set date, hence the government should consider extending the deadline," noted Hellen Arusei, an agitated member of the public.
Interior CS Fred Matiangi had earlier this week maintained that the government will not extend the registration deadline.
“We are willing to register but let the government give us more time," added John Koech.
So, it is a matter of time to tell whether the government will listen to the pleas or not.
