Some foods can trigger heartburn, cause stomach pains or acid reflux when paired with alcohol. 

Here are some of the foods you should not eat before taking alcohol.

 1. Spicy foods

 The benefits of these foods can't outweigh the risks that come with pairing them with your favourite cocktail. 

When you eat spicy food before drinking some alcohol, you are likely to have prolonged heartburn.

The other disadvantage is that you can end up suffering from acid reflux. 

2. Salty snacks

Avoid eating salty snacks before taking alcohol as they are believed to dehydrate the body. Drinking alcohol after munching on the snacks can cause dehydration which will leave you with a dry mouth. It is advisable to instead consume watermelons or cucumbers which are filled with water.

3. Salad

Eating a salad before drinking is considered the same as going out drinking on an empty stomach. This is because vegetables take less time to digest thus won't slow down the rise of your blood alcohol level. If you decide to eat a salad before going out drinking, ensure it contains proteins such as chicken which take longer to digest thus slowing down the absorption of alcohol into the bloodstream.
