Mombasa County Governor Ali Hassan Joho has mourned legendary Tanzanian actor Amri Athuman alias Mzee Majuto.
Majuto was admitted at the Muhimbili Hospital earlier last week after his condition worsened, leading to his death on August 8.
He was taken to India for specialized treatment after he started suffering from a hernia.
Hernia is a condition that occurs when an organ pushes through an opening in the muscle or tissue that holds it in place.
In his condolence message on Saturday, Joho said: "We shall always remember you for all the great moments when you lit up our homes and our lives with joy and laughter. You will always stand a legend as no other in our hearts."
Majuto, aged 70 is known for acting Tanzanian movies including Kondakta, Mama Nitilie Movie and King Majuto Returns Home.
"May the Almighty Grant you Jannatul Firdaus. May Allah (SWT) rest your soul in eternal peace my friend Amri Athman (Mzee Majuto)" added Joho.
Several Tanzanian artists such Diamond Platnumz and Wema Sepetu also mourned him.“May your Humble Soul Rest in Paradise KING...Will always Miss and Love you,” said Diamond.
“Alipangalo Allah... I wished to work with you baba angu... Ila Allah hakupanga... Kapumzike baba angu... Mungu Mkali jamani....????????????... Ila kama kuteseka tu umeteseka jamani.... RIP King,” said Sepetu.Majuto was laid to rest on August 11.
