Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has reacted after President Uhuru Kenyatta nominated a former gubernatorial candidate to head the National Police Service Commission (NPSC).
The Head of State on Tuesday forwarded the name of Eliud Ndung'u Kinuthia to the National Assembly for vetting to replace Johnstone Kavuludi as the NPSC chairperson.
Kinuthia was the Party of National Unity (PNU) candidate for Lamu governorship in 2017 but threw in the towel a few days to the election in favour of Jubilee's candidate Fahim Twaha.
Kabogo welcomed Kinuthia's nomination saying he was optimistic he will deliver in the crucial commission judging by his impressive curriculum vitae.
"Good CV. If it’s anything to go by, he’ll do a good job," Kabogo posted on his official Twitter account on Tuesday.
The remarks, however, were dismissed by a section of Kenyans who termed Kinuthia's nomination as 'political', arguing he is, therefore, unfit to chair NPSC.
"As if Kikuyu have a monopoly of good CVs. Tell us something convincing Mr Governor," said Jackson Koromicha.
Activist and the Chief Executive of International Center for Policy and Conflict Ndung'u Wainaina claimed Kinuthia got the job for backing Twaha in the past polls.
"Why Nominee for Chair @NPSC_KE Eliud Kinuthia must be rejected. @UKenyatta asked him to step down and instead support Lamu Governor Fahim Twaha of Jubilee in return for a nice job if Jubilee wins the elections," Wainaina posted.
On his part, Charles Njeru Kigoro said the nomination had nothing to do with qualifications.
"Which CV? Uhuru Kenyatta is very tribal everything should go his kins yet building bridges blah blah blah," noted Kigoro.
