Nzaui police boss Patrick Nandi said the suspect commited the heinous act at their home in Emali on Saturday.

He has been held at Emali police station awaiting to be arraigned in court.

Nandi said the incident resulted from a domestic squabble.

"The suspect accused of stabbing his 36-year-old wife is in police custody," Nandi said.

He said the mother of three died on the way while she was being rushed to Kilometre Nursing Home for treatment.

"She had deep wounds on the chest. Sadly, she died before reaching the hospital for treatment," he said.

Nandi addressed the press in his office on Saturday.

He said the police have commenced investigations into the murder.

The police boss said the victim's distress call alerted neighbours who sought help.

Mbula Mueni, the hotel manager where the victim worked said a woman ran into the hotel screaming saying that the deceased, Jackline Mutindi, had been attacked by her husband.

"When we got there, she was lying on the floor in a pool of blood," Mueni recalled.

The body was taken to Makindu Hospital's mortuary for preservation.

Nandi said the suspect will be arraigned in court after police conclude their investigations.
