Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has criticised the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) for allegedly going soft on Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina.
Speaking on Sunday during a service at Huhoini Catholic Church, the vocal MP condemned the Commission for writing the senator a letter warning him against incitement instead of arresting him.
This comes after NCIC on Thursday, last week, cautioned Ledama against making inciting utterances.
The Senator is accused of making remarks that are likely to cause ethnic hatred among communities living in the Mau Complex.
"It has come to the attention of the commission that Mr Ledama ole Kina uttered words that are likely to affect harmonious and peaceful coexistence among communities living around the Mau complex," read NCIC's statement in part.
The commission further issued the senator with a notice to stop making such utterances immediately.
"Failure to comply with the notice is an offence as provided for under Section 63(c) of the National Cohesion and Integration Act," read NCIC's letter to Ledama.
Kuria, however, condemned the move, arguing that he has been arrested before over claims of making inciteful remarks.
"NCIC is writing love letters to Ledama yet when I say something small I am arrested and locked up in Pangani Police Station. Why aren't I accorded the same treatment?" asked Kuria.
"Why aren't they arresting him yet they arrest me even when I haven't even committed a crime? Is the government applying the law selectively?" added Kuria.
The MP at the same time warned the communities living in the Mau against fighting each other, saying violence will not be tolerated in Njoro and Molo areas.
