Opposition leader Raila Odinga's son Raila Junior has joined millions of Kenyans in mourning the demise of veteran sports commentator Mohammed Juma Njuguna.
“To the family of veteran radio presenter and football commentator Mohammed Juma Njuguna, accept my deepest and heartfelt condolences. May his soul rest in peace. #RipMzee,” he tweeted on Saturday.
Njuguna died on Saturday after a long battle with illness at the Nairobi Hospital.
He was on Saturday evening laid to rest at the Kariokor Muslim Cemetery, in a funeral service that was attended by his family, friends and colleagues in the media industry.
Njuguna, who was known for his sense of humor and mastery of the Kiswahili language, worked in the media industry for decades before his demise.
At the time of his death, Njuguna was a content producer at Radio Citizen. He landed the role in 2016.
He was a former employee of KBC, before he quit to join the Royal Media Services in 1999, which is owned by tycoon and media mogul SK Macharia.
Njuguna’s experience and skills saw him awarded with a Head of State Commendation (HSC) by retired President Mwai Kibaki on March 10, 2010.
