Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has sent a message of condolence to the family and friends of the County Assembly Speaker David Kiplagat.
This follows the sudden death of his wife Angela Mutwol.
In a condolence message posted on his official Facebook page on Saturday, Mandago said he received the sad news with shock and disbelief.
“I wish to extend my deepest sympathies to the family of Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker Hon. David Kiplagat for the loss of his beloved Wife Mrs Angela Mutwol. May our good God give the family strength at this time of grief, I received the sad news with shock and disbelief. On behalf of the County Government of Uasin Gishu, I say Pole,” reads part of the governor's Facebook post.
"Psalm 34:18 "The LORD is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit". May her soul rest in eternal peace," he added.
Mrs Mutwol, wife to the County Assembly Speaker died at Tophill Hospital in Eldoret town on Saturday where she was receiving treatment following a road accident.
