Most socialites only want to be associated with lavish estates like Lavington and Runda.
However, Nairobi’s hot socialite, Huddah Monroe, went against the norm. Three years ago, she went shopping in Kibera.
She posted her activities on Instagram and encouraged everyone to love their background even if it is in the slums. She also hit at those who look down upon others yet they have never offered a helping hand.
“Deep down in the slums, I shop everywhere FYI…Slums remind me a lot and As much as it’s important to remember where you want to go, it’s also important to remember where u came from and Never look down on anybody unless you are helping them up...,” read her post as quoted by Mpasho.
As other socialites and celebrities shop at high-end malls and shops, Huddah reminded them that informal settlements could still offer fun shopping spree. This was a great message especially to those persons raised in ghetto then luck or hard work takes them to Karen. They should remember their foundation and stop terming them dens for goons and thugs.
The same year, she was spotted walking from Huruma to Runda. When quizzed about the motive behind the self-imposed tedious journey, she said it was purely for adventure.
