Cell phones are communication gadgets that are fundamentally used for communication and accessing social media as well as broadcasting messages.
Youths in Eldoret are vulnerably obsessed with it, thus obstructing them from being attentive in the church.
Pastor David Kizito of Jesus Ministries revealed that worshipers, majorly youths concentrate on their phones while the church services are ongoing forcing him to be notifying the congregants of switching them off while in church.
“Mostly you get frantic noises, phones ringing and destructing the whole mass for a while when the owners move out to receive,” said Kizito who serves as the chair to the council of clergymen in Uasin Gishu region.
He indicated that youths are prone to the vice as modern phones are installed with Bible applications and worshippers pretend to be using them while browsing social media platforms that are irrelevant to the church service procession.
“You might think that they use Bible in their phones, they are virtually away from the church chatting with friends. Many churches among the one am serving, I have been observing how youths behave in church with phones forcing the management to patch notices on the church walls reminding them to put off,” Pastor Kizito complained.
The clergy chairman urged parents to take the responsibility of guiding youths and children on how and where not to use phones.
