Three people found guilty of robbing a taxi driver Sh3,300 have been sent to the hangman by a Kerugoya court.
Josphat Njoroge, Hilda Njau and Mikeson Mutinda were found guilty of robbery with violence.
They were accused of violently robbing a taxi driver the amount on October 5, 2016 at Kabendoso area within the outskirts of Kerugoya town.
They also faced another charge of trying to rob the taxi from the driver while armed.
Kerugoya Senior Resident Magistrate Eric Wambo said the prosecution witnesses had convinced the court beyond reasonable doubt of the three suspect’s guilt.
The court also said the three were unremorseful despite their actions.
“Since you have declined to show an iota of remorse even after being accorded the opportunity, I hereby sentence you to death as prescribed by the law and accord you 14 days within which to appeal,” Wambo ordered.
Earlier during the hearing of the case, the court had been stunned by the taxi when he narrated how two of the suspects had posed as customers.
They then told him to stop at a certain farm where two more men joined them and before long they were strangling him with a rope.
A tractor driver noted something was wrong with the vehicle and blocked it.
The suspects were then arrested by members of the public.
