Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has called for the dissolution of Parliament which he describes a "House full of useless MPs".
The outspoken ODM MP on Sunday said that the lawmakers have turned into individuals out to fulfill their own individual interests instead of serving members of the public.
"90 percent of MPs are not serving/fighting for the forgotten and are as useless as scales of a fish. Where did the sovereignty of Parliament go? Even a mere CS who is appointed is more powerful than the lawmaking body!" the MP said on Sunday.
"A Cabinet Secretary is summoned by Parliament but he ignores and Parliament does nothing about it yet a CS is just a junior officer who can be impeached by Parliament anytime. MPs must wake up and serve the oppressed or Parliament be dissolved."
The MP was obviously reacting to Treasury CS Henry Rotich's decision to increase fuel tax despite Parliament's suspension of the same. He was summoned to appear before the House but he rejected the call.
Babu said Kenya may be moving towards the wrong direction where impunity reigns as government officials decline invitations to appear before Parliamentary Committees when required.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i is on record having rejected calls to appear before the House more than ones.
