Sonko wants the mothers to be cautious and take care of their babies, noting that cases of theft of babies are on the rise.

“It is inhumane for someone to think of stealing a baby who is only days old and I urge all nursing mothers to stay vigilant,” the governor said on Sunday.

Sonko was speaking in relation to a case where a  middle-aged woman was found with a baby she had stolen at Pumwani hospital on Friday.

The woman was stopped by security guards after the baby she had stuffed in a laptop bag started crying.
