Traders owning businesses at Uhuru Plaza building in Kisii town are disappointed with Governor James Ongwae after the disaster management team failed to respond quickly to put of fire at the building on Wednesday morning.
Traders accused Governor James Ongwae of condoning lazy disaster management team.
"We raised alarm as early as 7 am when the fire broke but, the firefighters are yet to arrive at the scene. It is shameful the governor despite the numerous plea to employ competent firefighters he has done nothing," said Lukas Nyabaro.
James Ondere protested the county firefighters' sluggishness saying Ongwae must sack the lazy firefighters.
"As traders, we are the major stakeholders in Kisii county because we pay daily taxes which helps the county government to run its operations. Ongwae should stop condoning lazy staff who will make him not to achieve his development dreams before he retires in 2022," said Ondere.
Henry Omwenga challenged Ongwae to wake up from his deep dream.
"The county boss should wake up and send home lazy people who will derail his development plans. It is unbelievable that the disaster management can take longer to respond to the alarm raised by helpless traders," he stated.
