Area Member of County Assembly (MCA) Moses Mitaa distributed the chicks to over 20 women groups at Kangundo Town.

The MCA urged the women to take the initiative seriously so as to improve their economic status.

Addressing journalists on Thursday, Mitaa noted that he will ensure all groups in the region benefit from the initiative.

"I have distributed the first batch and the remaining groups will soon benefit from the chick rearing initiative," said Mitaa.

He also promised to distribute hatcheries to the groups in a few months to come so that they can be able to hatch eggs.

The MCA vowed to make follow-ups on the progress on the initiative.

One of the beneficiaries, Elizabeth Nzioka, thanked the MCA, stating that the initiative will greatly improve the lives of Kangundo women.

"More than 1500 women gathered today to receive chicks from our MCA. We are grateful to the county government for the initiative and we are praying that more projects will be initiated," said Mrs Nzioka.

She hailed the good working relationship between the county's top leadership and MCAs, noting that it has led to actualisation of development projects.
