Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has issued a stern warning to politicians who will be at the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting in Mombasa.
Governor Joho said Coast leaders will not allow politicians with intentions of turning the event into a political platform to attend the meeting this weekend.
Speaking while inspecting Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa, Joho said the event will be used for Coast residents to air their views on the report and what they want to be captured in the report.
He said leaders who will speak at the event should ensure they talk about issues which can benefit the people and not drive their own agenda.
“We are ready for the BBI rally on Saturday and we welcome all. But there is no room for a political contest. Those looking for a political playground should try elsewhere and not county 001,” said Joho.
3,000 delegates are expected in Mombasa to discuss issues affecting residents in the region which need to be captured in the report.
Joho said issues that need to be addressed include unemployment among the young people, economy and the drug menace that has affected the region.
“We have invited delegates from all corners of the Coast region so that the BBI process becomes truly inclusive,” said the governor.
