Grey hairs can be a sign that you are ageing. However, this is not always the case. In some instances, grey hair is said to be associated with some health complications
Here is what grey hairs say about your health
1. You may be suffering from an autoimmune condition.
Autoimmune skin disease is also known as alopecia aeata causes your hair to grow greyish in colour. According to Dr Day on Readers Digest, the condition happens when the immune system ravages the hair follicles.
“This happens because your immune system attacks your hair follicles, making your hair fall out. When it grows back, it grows back white,” quoted by Dr Day.
2. Grey hair has been linked to heart diseases
Those who have grey hairs are likely to fall victims to various cardiovascular diseases.
This is after a study was conducted to find out who are predisposed to the disease and it was established that men with grey hairs are more vulnerable to heart diseases.
"Ageing is an unavoidable coronary risk factor and is associated with dermatological signs that could signal increased risk," states Dr Irini Samuel, a cardiologist at Cairo University in Egypt.
3. You may be suffering from vitamin deficiency
The condition is a sign that you are lacking vitamin B12.
