Breastfeeding is important to your newborn child thus it is paramount to have enough milk supply.
Here are five ways to increase milk production in breastfeeding mothers.
1. Eat a balanced diet
Eating a balanced diet is essential to every mother who is breastfeeding. Eat as many fruits and vegetables as possible because they will help in boosting your overall health.
2. Drink more water
Milk is made up of 90 per cent water, so you can not produce milk if you are dehydrated. Drink as much water as you can, preferably more than eight glasses a day so that you can produce enough milk for your infant.
3. Breast feed frequently
Frequent breast feeding is another way to produce more milk. New born children are supposed to breastfeed for at least 10 minutes on each breast. Continuous breastfeeding will stimulate more milk production.
4. Get enough rest
When you are a new mother, it can be hard to get time to rest because of the pressure that comes with looking after the baby. However, when you are so tired, your milk production can go down. Use the smallest opportunity you get to rest a bit or take a nap when your baby is asleep during the day.
5. Put stress aside
Stress will not only affect your health but also your milk production. If at all you have stress, your milk production will decrease. For you to have enough milk production, you have to avoid the things that stress you.
