Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa is likely to face a by-election after being expelled from Orange Democratic (ODM) party.
This possibility has made her 2017 rivals and those interested in the representing Malindi constituents to start preparing her ouster from politics.
Speaking after Jumwa’s dismissal, Philip Charo promised to face Jumwa if a by-election is held.
After Jumwa floored Willy Mtengo in the 2017 ODM primaries, she defeated Philip Charo who vied on a Jubilee Party ticket. He has however not disclosed his next political vehicle that will take him to parliament.
“I’ll announce the party I shall use to vie for the seat once the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declares the seat vacant,” Charo said.
ODM National Governing Council (NGC) ratified party’s National Executive Council (NEC) recommendations to dismiss Jumwa from the party led by Raila Odinga. Her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori was spared and has vowed to support party ideologies.
“Party NGC unanimously votes to expel Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa from he party. The meeting however deferred the decision her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori following his letter of apology to the SG @edwinsifuna in which he apologised to the party for his rebellion,” ODM tweeted.
