Following the arrest of former National Lands Commission chair Dr Mohamed Swazuri, EACC has ordered 14 other suspects to surrender immediately.

This follows approval by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji to charge 24 suspects over corruption-related crimes.

In a statement issued by the EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak, the agency stated that "The commission hereby directs the following persons to present themselves at Integrity Centre immediately. The suspects will be arraigned in court to take plea on 18th April 2019," read the statement in part.

Among those ordered to surrender are NLC's Deputy Director Valuation and Taxation  Joash Oindo Mogambi, Administrative secretary Lilian Savai Kiverenge and a host of business personalities who were involved in the compensation of land in the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).

Swazuri's Wednesday arrest will see him and seven others face charges of irregular compensation of land, abuse of office among others.

The former NLC boss will also the conspiracy to commit economic crimes, money laundering and financial misconduct charges.
