The mother of the 16-year-old girl allegedly defiled by a pastor in Makueni County claims church leaders wanted an out of court settlement.
The class eight girl's mother said she was approached by some of the church leaders who pleaded with her to remain silent about the defilement incident.
She said they urged her not to report the matter at the police station and instead settle it out of court.
According to her, the church leaders wanted to avoid drama at the church of 'man of God' going behind bars.
"They told me it would bring so much shame to the church if the pastor is arrested and I should consider settling the case out of court to avoid all the drama," She said.
She said the girl hid the pregnancy from her for a period of three months.
On the fateful day, the girl had gone to the church to sprinkle water and prepare the church for service.
The unruly pastor is said to have dragged the minor to his house in the church compound and defiled her.
He warned her against breathing a word to a soul about what transpired due to his position in the church.
The widow said she stopped attending the church after she learned of the incident since she couldn't fathom how a man of God would commit such an unspeakable act to her daughter.
The pastor had only ministered in the church for a year.
