Citizen TV has adopted a slogan associated with Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu in a news segment that will be airing every Thursday.
According to Citizen’s news anchor Nimrod Taabu, ‘Kitaeleweka’ news segment will be about Kiswahili tongue twisters.
The segment started on October 18 where members of the public were approached unaware and asked to make a certain statement with tongue twisters.
The first Kitaeleweka was: Kulundu, Kung’u na Ndung’u wala njugu za mzungu kwenye ukungu.
Within political circles, Kitaeleweka is a slogan associated with an anti-Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
Its face has been the Nyeri MP who shares its opposition to Ruto’s moves on his Facebook page.
When nominated MP Maina Kamanda made remarks at the burial of Joseph Kamaru which were deemed as a political attack against the DP, Ngunjiri was among those who celebrated Kamanda.
He captioned his support for the remarks in what has now become his trademark.
“Hon Maina Kamanda flagged it off. Many more leaders will go to the mashinani in coming weeks & months to tell Kenyans what is happening - and seek their views about what they think should be done about it. #KitaelewekaMashinani,” Ngunjiri wrote.
