Mr. Mong'are, popularly known as Nyambane, had been invited by Daniel Ndambuki, the host in commemoration of President Daniel Moi.

And when he was asked to imitate Moi, a role he played during his youthful days at Redykyulass, Mr. Mong'are refused much to his fans' disappointment.

For close to 15 minutes, fans threatened to throw him out with some cursing him for 'letting them down'.

After the situation cooled, Nyambane said: "Out of respect for the retired president, who – today – is not as energetic as he was nearly two decades ago, I choose not to imitate, or make fun of him.”

But his stay at the hall lasted only 30 minutes, after which he stormed out of the show that normally lasts for two hours.

A section of fans has accused their counterparts for being 'arrogant' to the retired comedian.

"Sometimes it's good to respect legends. I am not pleased with the way he was treated," said Fred Oguku.

Before joining State House as Youth strategist, Mong'are worked as Communication Director in Kisii and Nairobi counties.

He's popular at his Gusii backyard and at times is regarded as a power broker in Kisii and Nyamira counties.
