Garissa Township MP Aden Duale now wants the ongoing fight to reclaim riparian and grabbed land in Nairobi extended to Garissa and other parts of the country.
Duale says that the only first and sure way to save the environment is to reclaim riparian land.
He said that some people have encroached on riparian land, adding that the situation is to blame for drought and flooding in major parts of the country.
Speaking to journalists in Garissa Town on Saturday, Duale said that no one should be spared in the fight to save the riparian land.
He said that any building found to ben riparian land or road reserve whether it belongs to a government minister or whoever should be brought down.
"We support the ongoing demolitions on riparian land and people should keep politics out of it," he said on Saturday.
He added, "The buildings must go down even the Weston Hotel in Nairobi if it is found to be sitting on riparian land or public land.
"The multi-agency team leading the demolitions on riparian land in Nairobi should also extend to other counties across the country,' he said.
Duale said that people have encroached on government land especially road reserves making it hard for development.
Two weeks ago, President Uhuru Kenyatta said that he has lost many friends as a result of the demolitions in Nairobi.
The President said that the demolition exercise will continue, adding that no one will be spared.
He said that he is keen to fight impunity and corruption, adding that money will not save those who have built on riparian land.
Last week, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko revealed that Weston Hotel and Taj Mall are among buildings set to be demolished.
