Luo and Nandi elders have given President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Party leader Raila Odinga a thumbs up for their new found working relationship.
The two leaders put aside their long political differences and battles and forged a new working relationship through the much famed handshake on March 09, 2018.
The handshake has been praised for drastically reducing political tensions in the country, following the much divisive August 8th and Oct 26, 2018 repeat presidential polls.
Luo and Nandi elders have now saluted the two for helping unite Kenyans.
Led by Luo Council of Elders Chair Opiyo Otondi and his Nandi Counterpart Benjamin Arap Kitur, the elders now want President Kenyatta and Odinga to carry on with peace campaigns in other parts of the Republic.
"The peace Kenyans are enjoying is a result of the political goodwill exhibited between the ruling party and the opposition," said Mr Otondi.
On his part, elder Kitur said that the March 9 handshake saved Kenya and Kenyans from sliding into anarchy.
"We want Kenyans to be united and stop unnecessary scolding of one another. People must learn to tolerate each other," he said.
The two spoke in Kisumu on the sidelines of a peace meeting between Nandi and Luo elders ahead of President Kenyatta and Odinga’s tour of Kisumu tomorrow.
