Sharon Otieno's murder took a new twist on Tuesday after detection descended on Governor Okoth Obado over possible link to the mysterious death, reports the Standard.
For close to 8 hours, Governor Obado was tasked to explain how long he'd know the slain Rongo University student.
Given the nature of the investigations, the Migori county boss was also asked to state the last time they were in communication owing to the fact that his name has been adversely mentioned in the case.
The homicide detectives questioned the governor if at all he had a hand in abduction and subsequent murder of the student suspected to have been his lover.
With Sharon's mother Melida Auma claiming that the governor had intimidate relationship with Sharon, detectives asked Obado whether he was responsible for the pregnancy of Sharon.
Sources close to the ongoing inquest say that while the governor admitted being friend with the deceased, he could not however explicitly tell the nature of their friendship.
Mr. Obado reportedly had his DNA samples taken to establish whether he is the father of the unborn child.
Although his lawyer Cliff Ombeta maintains that he was not under arrest, the governor was whisked away in police vehicles.
