Don Bosco, the millionaire businessman who at one time borrowed Raila Odinga his Hammer for campaigns, landed at his Marani home for memorial service of his mother Celine Gichana.
On the front line were a team of youths mainly from Nyamira and Kisii Counties, who championed for his release throughout the stay in Tanzania prison.
Blogger Olivia Moraira alias Kabz Nyar Kisii and Youth President Beavon Magare led the youthful team, with hundreds of locals gathered at Magonga Primary where the helicopter that ferried him home landed.
From Magonga, the team now joined by their colleagues from Nairobi drove to Rikenye, the rural home to Mr. Gichana, where the memorial service is ongoing.
"He was to land at Nyakongo but the pilot changed course to Magonga due to space. I am seeing thousands of people around.
"This guy is loved so much. Seems his presence has just excited people. Songs, dances everywhere," said Olivia.
After the memorial service, the team will will proceed to Gusii stadium where a mega rally is expected to take place.
In previous interviews, Bosco said he's capable of mobilising over 1 million voters from Nyamira and Kisii Counties, adding that he is ready to bargain with other politicians at the national level.
Earlier, there were fears that he would not be allowed to use Gusii stadium, but security forces dropped their hard approach.
