Kenya Defense Forces enrolled over 150 Cadets for advanced military studies amid ongoing terror threats from Al-Shabaab militants who have intensified war in Kenya.

The security course, introduced a decade ago, is meant to sharpen the soldiers' intelligence especially on handling complicated situations while on duty.

On Saturday, Vice Chief of Defense Forces Lieutenant General Robert Kibochi said the soldiers will spend three years in the prestigious Kenyatta University.

He congratulated the KMA 09 Cadets challenging them to make use of the golden opportunity to gain knowledge that would enable them serve well in the military.

"This marks the beginning of your journey at Kenyatta #University. After the three years of study, you are expected to come out as wholistically trained leaders ready to face the complexities of global security," he said

The VCDF urged the cadets to maintain high levels of commitment, diligence and industriousness throughout the comprehensive academic training. 

Additionally, the VCDF said that the training they acquire in KMA and KU will not only make them good fighters but also prepare them to serve humanity towards fulfilment of KDF vision and mission.

Kenyatta University Vice Chancellor Professor Paul Wainaina expressed the pride and honour entrusted to the University to train KDF personnel.

"We are honoured to be the only institution handling over soldiers. They have been hear before and I am sure we shall do a good job," he said.
