Kenyans have always been known for their prowess in the track events, but went an extra level this time, clinching the first 17 positions in the race that attracted more than 50,000 participants at the Island city.

The Kenyans stunned more 10,000 athletes who managed to cross the line in the hot humid marathon.

Joshua Kipkorir, 24, did 2:12:12 to win the race, while Felix Kirwa clocked 2:13:42 to settle in second, with Andrew Kimtai coming in third in 2:14:29.

The first non-Kenyan Singaporean Soh Rui Yong came in at 18th position with a time of 2:41:49, a wide time range from the race winner.

The women's race was also dominated by Kenyan athletes, who took the top five spots. Priscah Cherono crossed the finish line at a time of 2:32:12, followed closely by Stella Barsosio timing at 2:33:23, and third position was taken by Jane Jelagat in a timing of 2:35:38.

Both gold medal winners couldn't hide their joy after winning the races, saying the weather was favorable to them and the win was due to their tireless preparation.

Each walked away with Sh5.1 million.
