A section of Kiambu politicians has declared support for former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo’s 2022 presidential bid.
Former Githunguri MP Njoroge Baiya said Kabogo is a national leader who has what it takes to be the country’s president.
Baiya said that the former county boss has the qualities needed in a president.
“I have worked with Kabogo and I know he has the zeal and desire to serve Kenyans,” he said in a phone interview on Tuesday.
The former Githunguri MP said that Kabogo succeeded in transforming Kiambu in terms of development during his reign as governor.
“We will support him (Kabogo) and I assure Kenyans that he is up to the task if given the chance,” he added.
Former Gitaru MCA Charles Arahuka has also said he supports Kabogo’s 2022 bid.
Arahuka said that Kabogo is a performer but was denied a second chance to lead Kiambu in the August 8, 2017, general election.
The former MCA said that the Mt Kenya region will support Kabogo if he vies for president in 2022.
“We would rather support Kabogo in 2022 because we know him and we also know his development capabilities,” he added.
Kabogo has declared interest in the top seat in 2022, stating that his desire is to serve Kenyans on the national level.
"I may not run as Kabogo but as a group of like-minded individuals who mean well for this country. I may go for the presidency or be someone's running mate," he said.
