Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria will be charged with five counts according to the notice from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation.
The counts include assaulting a police officer, incitement, causing a disturbance at a police station, resisting arrest and forceful holding.
The MP who was arrested on Saturday at Pipeline area in the outskirts of Nakuru Town and spent a better part of Saturday in police custody at Bondeni Police station before he was released on a personal bond.
This came after the intervention by his Nakuru Town West and Bahati counterparts, Samuel Arama and Kimani Ngunjiri respectively.
On Monday morning the MP had gone to court in Naivasha ready to take plea but was later called outside the courtroom by a police officer and served with the notice from the DCI.
He is now expected to appear in court on Monday next week to face the charges.
Gikaria has however accused the police of illegally arresting, assaulting him and causing injuries all over his body.
