Speaking on Citizen TV’s ‘Daybreak’ Friday morning, Atandi noted that incorporating highly ranked suspects with others could prove tragic, especially if placed in the same cells with hardcore criminals.

This he said with regards to the detention of Migori Governor Okoth Obado who is set for 10 more days at the Industrial Area Prison, pending the consideration of his bail application, at a time when the police has since noted that he is being treated as just any other suspect in detention.

‘’I think we need special remands for VIPs,’’ he said, as was posted on Citizen Television official twitter handle.

He expressed fears that the Governor might be subjected to hardships which contravene his social status, and the respect and power bestowed upon him by the constitution.

The parliamentarian proposed the county boss’ movement to a police station with better amenities instead.

‘’Some Police Stations have better facilities than others such as Kileleshwa. I am sure Obado is not having a good time at Industrial Area. I think VIPs should get better treatment as remandees owing to their status in society,’’ he is further quoted.

Obado is accused of participating in the abduction and murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno on September 3.

He has, however, since denied the charges.
